Template Designer

The section of Template Designer allows us to choose and edit the template that our blog will have.

What is a template?

A template is a pre-developed page layout that is used in the blog, to give it a structure, a mold and a pattern.

What templates can we choose?

Blogger offers us a long list of layouts classified into 7 different categories. There's a total of 34 templates. This can be seen on the tab Templates.

What can we edit from the chosen template?

There is a lot of possible modifications to do for our page layout. That's why they are classified into 4 parts.

  • Background: On this tab you can modify the background image, either by uploading one or by choosing one from the ones that blogger offers us. We can also change the main color theme of the blog. This is the set of colors that are used for the text, background, and other details.
  • Adjust widths: On this tab you can adjust the horizontal length of your blog, and the width of the sidebars.
  • Layout: On this tab you can modify the structure of your blog. This is one of the most important parts because this is the layout that is modified and edited at Design. Here you can choose a body and footer layout. This includes the header, sidebars, cross-columns and footer columns.
  • Advanced: On this tab you can personalize each detail of the blog. You can change sizes, colors, font types, backgrounds and links. There is also a special tab, named as Add CSS, which allows us to overwrite any style of the template by writing our own code of CSS there.
What else should we know about Template Designer?

Nothing of what you test or change on this section will be saved unless you click on the button which says Apply to Blog, on the top right corner of the screen. Moreover, you should bear in mind that the template for the computers (Live on Blog) and cellphones (Mobile) should be similar so people recognize it's the same blog when they change their electronic device.
